Hi all,

E30 1990 318iS 230,000 miles, shell is still good but engine and small leaks using about a litre of oil every month (400-600 miles).

What would people suggest I do please? Love the car and owned for 7 years and want to keep the od girl going with current engine as it has been bullet proof.

Thanks in anticipation all.

Cheers, shaun

I would check where the oil leaks are coming from and try and cure them. on the m42 engine the timing chain cover is guilty of leaking oil if its from there I would put a new chain and tensioner on also as I have seen the chains breaking.

Like Curr946 says, I'd try an fix the leak if that's what it is.

If it's burning the oil then keep you eyes open for another engine, ideally one you can hear running.
