Todays Problem....confused

Ok, so upon replacing the fuel pressure regulator yesterday, the car fired up no problems after refusing to start and cutting out etc.
Must have stopped and started it a dozen times over two days no problems at home just to check...then drove to the shop, came out, and....it would not start.
I assume the fuel pump has packed up as there's plenty of battery power and it wouldn't start trying to bump it.
Although...I got towed home, and there was a colossal oil leak over the driveway, it's coming from the engine bay somewhere (it was dark and couldn't see where from)
So I may have two unrelated problems or one big one!
Any ideas?
Cheers

when my fuel pump started to fail i got by for a couple of weeks by whacking the fuel pump cover under the rear seat bench with a baeball bat, seemed to kick the fuel pump in the action.

try giving it a whack before trying to start the car or a whack while cranking, obviously only a temporary fix but if it works you know its a faulty fuel pump
