not starting all of a sudden

Moved it last night up the drive everything perfect, went to start it this evening and it is just turning over very quickly... almost like there isn't any compression, it's a bit dark but i had a quick look and the plugs are all in place.

Any ideas?

It's a bit of a weird one

1) Is this on the iS in your signature? If so you have a chain-driven engine

2) If the chain is snapped, the engine is toast.

3) If it's not the chain, then your starter isn't engaging with the flywheel. You need to check visibly that the engine is turning when you turn the key.

Yea the is, I'll check the chain, but I can't figure out how it would snap, as o said was working fine then the next day nothing, the engine is definitely turning over just seems like it's turning over very quickly... so I don't think Its the starter,

If it's turning, and turning fast, there's no compression. That's not good!

Just a thought have you checked your fuel pump?

when you turn the ignition on do you hear the fuel pump spin up for about a second or so ? If not then do check on that as i am currently having problems with my IS.... fuel starvation seems to be my problem and this is caused by possibly my electrical which i am due to check up tomorrow.

check fuses, fuel pump relay and await for more information from the E30 Gods on here. They will sure to get you up and running.

Is the fuel pump working?
Is a spark being produced?

no spark was working fine! then i caught the relay thats by itself on left front wing when i slipped tighten alternator, its been replaced, dont know why its not sparking nw, also noticed an earth strap attach to battery tray but not at other end, short strap reaches to near dizzy/ rocker cover. where does this go?
