Water Leak - Please Help

My E30 320 is loosing water....
I drove around 200 miles on the weekend & I went through approx 3-4 litres of water.
Checked the oil no creamy slush...
Can't see an obvious leak... When running on the spot...
There is no funny smell from the exhaust either....
Engine runs fine, rather well actually!
I've had it since April, always lost a bit of water but not this much...
Any suggestions
