ABS

I've always wondered about whether the ABS is functioning properly on my 87 325i cabby, even though the warning light behaves as it should. Having just pulled the relays from the top of the pump, the warning light stays on with the engine running when the silver one is removed (which is good news, as it clearly means the warning light isn't wired in with another light). When I remove the larger black relay and start the engine though, the warning light goes off. Is this normal behaviour? If so I guess I can assume my ABS is perfectly fine and dandy, and that I just haven't braked hard in conditions that would trigger it yet!

Thanks in advance for any guidance...

Tim

All as it should be.
Just find a bit of clear road and stand on the brake pedal.

Thanks as ever Brian. Out of interest are there any circumstances where ABS component failure (e.g pump) might NOT trigger a warning light?

Cheers,
