Did the timing belt over the last 2 days a long job but not too hard. Now the next issue is the pad wear light on. I have checked the pads front and rear and they are fine. I disconnected the 2 sensors and the light still stays on. Is this a common problem. There isn't a sensor on the handbrake shoes is there.

Disconnected sensors will bring the light on. You need to short the the wires going to the sensors to eliminate them.
Its easier to just buy a set of sensors (one at front and one at the rear). They only cost about a fiver each, That way you will have eliminated that as a problem or fixed your problem.
There is no sensors on the handbrake shoes.
There is also a dry joint in the instrument cluster that which is a common problem, but put new sensors in first.
