Been having problems starting the car, had to keep turning the key over an over till it started, problems got worse an now it wont start at all!
Battery is fine, changed the starter motor an its still the same, cleaned all the earths an connections, thinking its a relay now, which relay controls the starter motor?
What else could it be?
The cars a 90 316i
Thank you

I've had almost the same issue with mine mate, found to be possible the two white blocks mounted on top of the steering tube. Take a look in here under 'fuel pump relay??'

Cheers for that, does sound the same, mine turned out to be the ignition switch itself

I have added a large relay to my 318i M40 as I find the ignition switches do not last for too many years otherwise.
Now the Start position of the ignition switch energises the relay which in turn supplies power to the solenoid.

A good excuse to install a starter button!
