e36 compact suspension in e30

hi

i am willing to buy and got one avalible, its is e36 compact 318i and its got a discs at the back. everything looks exacly the same except main subframe mounts. will those wishbones with discs fits normal e30 316i back subframe, or should i get a compleate rear axle from that compact??? any help will be great!

i want beter brakes for my e30 316i as iam getting m52b28 for it over the weekend and will be able to strip e36 328i to get the bits off.

Not sure what you want? Assume you are going for a 5 stud conversion?

The E36 compact fit but you will have wider track at the rear requiring wheels with an E36 offset (much higher than E30) and with 5-studs, whereas E30 wheels are 4 studs. You'll also have to change the output flanges on the differential to the E36 compact type.

If you're not doing a 5-stud swap on the front too (expensive), best just looking for a set of rear-disc arms from an E30. Plenty sets around and they arn't silly money. Your 316i probably has solid discs at the front, swapping these for vented discs with the wider calipers to suit would be a much more worthwhile mod than arsing around with rear discs from a compact.
