Access to the M20 Blue Temp sensor for replacement

Hello,
I've been noticing that my 320 Tourer doesn't like starting when warm but always starts first turn when cold so I decided to replace the blue 2 pin temp sensor that is used by the ECU.
I've had a look and the access looks a bit restricted. Access for a socket is restricted by a plastic rail and the sensor is too recessed to reach with a spanner, without risking rounding the corners of the sensor.
Any ideas from someone who has done this on how best to do it fastest.
Also, do I just need to open the reservoir filler cap to depressurise or should I drain some coolant before removing the old sensor?
Thanks for any advice you can give,
