Personally i would not be using sikaflex on side skits especially nice new ones which you have also gone to the trouble of using new fittings.

If you sikaflex them on then it makes removal for future cleaning/waxoiling/rust checking difficult.

bss325i which would you recommend adhesive?

P.S. That may not necessarily be the adhesive, but it is important to keep well.

I recommend that they be fitted correctly using all the right clips.

No adhesive or bonding agents at all.

The front lip spoiler just clips on with the correct clips, the holes are already there in the front valence.

The side skirts will need holes drilling but you MUST used a zinc primer and paint to touch in the bare metal left after drilling the holes.

Also use waxoil/cavity wax on the holes and inside the sill sections.

This means the side skirts can be unclipped for future maintenance.

I'm afraid we don't understand each other. You don't recomend the Sikaflex adhesive and I don't want to drill holes on my car - what now?

P.S.

My acquaintace has told me that there are a lot of people on this forum who use adhesive for fitting their side skirts. If this is true, I'm wondering what are they recomending? I hope that someone who has done that will tell me what to do.

I would drill the holes, treat for rust and fit the things properly.. adhesive is gash and as Bss said it'll be impossible to get the bloody things off without damage.. even for the smallest welding patch or coat of waxoyl..

:D

Yes there are lots of people on this forum who like to bodge and not do things properly.

I just posted up the correct way to fit them as a suggestion.

There's even a fitting guide in the Wiki, and it makes no mention of adhesives, bonders or other glues:

Oh bugger I cannot help myself

Why not use 6 inch nails and a sledge hammer, but only after consuming 10 cans on Tennants super.

I have used Tigerseal for jobs on other cars and cannot recommend it for bonding bodykits-quite simply, you won't get it off again!
If you MUST bond it on, Sikaflex is probably the best as it is more easily removable and less permanent whilst still being a good bonding agent. 252 would probably be the best.
All colours of Tigerseal are identical in properties.

Well as rover 2000 has mentioned if you stick it on with tiger seal it will never come off again, well it will but itl be hard work, I used clear for obvious reasons it dries clear and has done the job perfectly im not sure if quality varies i think tiger seal is tiger seal. But in acknowledgment to what others have said it is the incorrect way to do it, but its your car dude :D

Totally agree with Barry on this one. Steel and plastic have different coefficient of expansion with temperature, and with such a long item as a sill skirt, considerable stresses will occur, and if anything gives, it will be the paint on the sill.
The only bit of body kit that should be fitted with Sikaflex is the rear spoiler on a touring.
What's the problem with drilling holes and fitting them properly?

I used this how-to, helped me a lot:

http://forum.norcale30.com/showthread.php?p=90394

When drilled its much easier to remove them once-a-year or so to clean-up any rust/crud build-up

The issue with that guide is that there is no mention of treating the holes after drilling them.

This is most important to prevent them going rusty.

This one must have been done to death almost as much as the 325i v 318is debate.

Drill the holes, do the job properley.
