E30 Zone

Hi I am looking at upgrading my front brakes was just wounding what options I've got as in new big brake kit or what other brakes fit and are a good upgrade

The first decision is what diameter wheels do you plan on using?

I have a set of Mazda rx7 callipers, bracket to fit straight to e30, and redstuff pads. I am running Lenso 16's with spacer.

At the mo I've got 14" bbs wheels but I will be having 15" on soon not sure what size I need, I have turboed the bm so would like to stop a tad quicker lol

I would say 15 would be very tight. 16's to be safe!

Would new driled and Groved disks all round with some decent pads and good ridge hoses be enougth

As I understand it, caliper piston surface area is more important than fitting uprated disks. The hoses are a given though, regardless of how far you go with your brake upgrade.

Ok so some hoses and 4 pots would be way forward, just depends what I can get behind me wheels, the Rx 7 calipers seam common can they be used up standerd disks or would they have to go bigger

depends on how much turbod power you have and how hard you drive it. iirc uprated discs. pads and fluid with the goodridge hoses was fine for my erratic driving style but prolonged abuse and you could feel them starting to fade.

Agreed. Just saying you've "turboed" it doesn't give enough info. If you're making anything like silly power than you need good anchors, and TBH I'd be considering 16" wheels unless you're running a low boost engine.

Ok maybe just updated should do for now as don't brake from high speed much would be fine

Running 10psi, hasn't been fully set up yet so unsure on power

10psi on a relatively otherwise standard 2.5?

280mm/4 pots are popular as they fit in the 15" BBS, which are ideal for trackdays etc - 298.5mm fits in 16's like the Hartge (but the 16" Alpina needs 280mm due to the daft poke shape).
