hi got my mate to get car on ramp and have a look at it bushes etc and rust. What he found is the the bottomsuspension perch where the spring pigtails fit to is corroded. Is this a problem the spring was kinda loose as they are low springs. One is ok but one is corroded and just a little stub left. Is this a concern dont want spring to fall out.

No, it is not at all common! I'd get the trailing arm changed ASAP.

crap will do. safety 1st, cars got mot as well . is it just same part for all e30's as mine is a mtec 1 sport coupe. Also is it a big job. I'd like to have a crack at it myself but if its a headache i'll book it in at garage.

Disc and drum brake versions of each, plus only some disc arms have holes for ABS sensors.

Biggest problem you will likely have when changing it is removing the handbrake cable sheath. Just pushes in at either end, but, unless copper grease was used, they like to grow roots.

I have seen it too, on Felix79's old Alpina but that car had the most rusty and f*cked suspension i have ever seen on any car let alone an E30!
The front anti roll bar mount on the front cossmember had also rusted away!
