I've found an advert on driftworks with regards to a b3 3.0 alpina engine thats fitted in an e36 328.

I cant show the pics but heres a link.

http://www.driftworks.com/forum/drift-c ... k-etc.html

The guy selling it doesnt seem to know much about it, here is what he's put:

***bmw 3litre b3 engine with loom and ecu, sport cats, scopion catback etc
i believe the engine is a 60k engine (250hp)and is from a e36. comes with loom and gear box ecu and spare ac snitza ecu

CAN I JUST ADD THE B3 ECU WONT START THE CAR AND BELIEVE ITS CAUSED IT THINKS ITS STUCK IN GEAR (BEING A AUTO ORIGINALY) BUT CAR STARTS AND DRIVES OF THE MANUAL 3LITRE ECU, SHOUT BE A SIMPLE FIX BUY MAKING THE ECU THINK ITS IN PARK

dont no what its worth ? say £450 no offers bloody cheap engine!!!***

Could this be a good engine to put in an e30? Worth a gamble maybe?

I don't know much about Alpina donks, but the pics of that engine to me say it's just an early non Vanos M50 perhaps with some stickers on it?

i'd be wary, the 3.0 should have vanos.

It could be a 2.8 pina engine i don't think they had vanos.

It's based on the original M50B25, but they increased the displacement to 3.0 and 250hp over the stock 192hp.

Assuming it is what it claims to be and hasn't spent all it's time bouncing off the limiter with some drift spazzo I'd say £450 is a good price

I'd probably take the whole car for the 850 he's asking but i want to try and get some verification on that engine before i start making offers

Thats why i'm asking these questions, i'm trying to find out what the hell this engine is supposed to be.

Is it even likely to be an alpina?

Looks like halfords lettering and a fake Alpina oil sticker to me.

A genuine 60K Alpina lump with service paperwork is a couple of grand,IF you can find one

A 100K 3,2L lump is circa £3k,again IF you can find one

i'd be tempted by the LSD for 80 ono but its on a drifting website!

it looks like a colbbled together car, got all sorts on it. A test drive would reveal all to be fair.

Its bound to have had the arse ragged out of it, mixed bag of bits in the engine bay, the original ECU could be fried, right mess of wires round the ECU, your just gambling your even buying what is advertised. Id want to measure the crank stroke before handing any money over
