manual box to auto box

i have a 1988 manual e30 convertible. how difficult/easy is it to turn it into an auto??? it was originally a 320i but the person b4 me replaced the engine with a 2.5i.
any suggestions and costs

One bit that won't be covered in that is getting a spigot bearing out of the end of the crank. It can be done with the aid of a 'Rawl' bolt and an appropriate puller, but the classical method is to carefully pack the area behind the bearing with grease, making sure not to trap any air, and then hammer a fairly close fitting steel bar(a sawn off bolt) through the hole in the centre of the bearing, producing hydraulic pressure that will push the bearing out.
