E30 Zone

For some reason my clutch pedal can retract all the way up but the only thing that stops it is the plastic head cap that sits on top of the pin on the clutch master cylinder. The problem with that is if I lift my foot off the clutch too fast it will come off the master cylinder which results in it no longer being connected, so I have to pull over etc.

Is there meant to be a thing on the pedal that stops the it coming up so far?

I think there is a spring ? Ill have a look when its light
