Okay so i've been trying my hardest to get my tie rod ends off ready for replacement, and using the traditional balljoint splitter fork tool only to find that it's not coming apart, no matter how hard im hitting it with a lump hammer. . . :S, any ideas??. cheers in advance. . . Richard

Try hitting the strut casing thats around the bolt to the tie rod end.

Falling that if your replacing the tie rods hit the top to the thread.

Having been there before, the easiest way is using the scissor type ball joint splitter. Got mine from unipart my local motor factors for £7.

Wind the joint splitter up nice and tight, then use two hammers to smack opposite sides of the end of the steering arm, around the taper, at the same time.
