just found a wet patch next to accelerator pedal and cant figure out how its getting ther?arches and sills are in good condition with no holes or rust also checked behind arch liner everything ok ther to.i though it could be water running down the accelerator pedal from my shoes after getting in car when raining lol wher else should i check?

leaking heater matrix ?

everything good ther mate.its just to the right of the accelerator pedal next to that kick patch its not spreading either

I had an issue like this...

Lift your carpet up and dry everywhere, then put some Talcum powder or something under the steering column... Then pour some water from inside the engine bay down the bulk head wall above the steering column hole...

Mine was leaking through there, above it sits the Elephank trunk which drains the water down and through it... I then seals it up with something or other and angled the elephant trunk at a different angle and never had the problem again

Pour a little water into the scuttle vents (the plastic grille under the windscreen) and then see if you get water in the cabin.

Is it water? Clutch failure can deposit clutch fluid in this area.

defiantly water just randomly appeared ther?god i hate reading those rust wiki things makes me paranoid to f**k.waters just sat in that corner has to be my old work shoes letting water run down the accelerator pedal my trainers do have cuts holes in them which could trap more water than usual that rust wiki has now made me want to undersill the hole car and keep it out the rain

The wiper spindle have a seal to the scuttle. 20 years and that will be fooked.
As above. a blocked elephants trunk can cause this also.

Or your front corner of the florpan is rotten.

I had a similar problem on a previous car and it was a blocked 'elephant trunk'.

that trunk thing is missing and went to poke my finger in side no blockages tho could the missing trunk cause an issue?ill put a bit of rubber piping on it.the wiper spindle does have slight bubbling around the seal but dont think its that bad.ill pull the carpet up and see whats going on best bet i think.previous owner might of done a cheap repair that he didnt tell me about.

Don't the sunroof drain tubes end up somewhere in that area, behind the kick panel where the speaker is?

A common problem here, often caused by a previous user jacking the car using the pad under the accelerator pedal, which breaks the underseal and lets the rot start. Sometimes the pedal box to bulkhead seal can leak, beneath the battery tray. If the battery tray is badly corroded at the bulkhead it will also let water in (dripping off the pedals) The whole area can be checked with a hosepipe and 2 people, pull the carpet back first and get in close with a torch.
