320i to 325i engine swap wiring question

any one help with this one ?
got an a reg. 320 i thats been fitted with an 1986 320i motor i am going to put in a 325i motor i just taken out of a f reg 89 car complete with ecu and harness
question is the wiring to the 320i ecu and car only has 11 wires and the 325i harness has 15 can anyone tell me what the other 4 wires do or whether there needed?,or has any one a wiring diagram for the 325i as the haynes does not show the later?anything else i should know when doing this swap?

Not an expert on E30 electrics, and I'm sure one of the E30 electrical boffins will be along soon, but maybe the early one you have isn't cat ready and the late one is, hence the difference in the amount off connectors?

Derek,

I have a pinout chart for a '91 325 engine connector that Ian Haynes sent me during my S50 conversion. It lists 17 wires, but some might not be applicable to your '89 engine. If you give me your email i'll send it to you.

I would guess that an oil level sensor accounts for some of them. The c101 connector, where the engine loom connects to the body loom should have the right connections for your 325.
