I know this should be really simple but how do you get the front (standard) seats out of a '93 Touring.
I was expecting bolts like my 635 but they seem to be some other strange fastening.

I think you'll find it's just a plastic cap over the nut?
That's how it is on the saloons anyway.

it is simple fella, 4 bolts, one at the end of each of the runners, 17mm I think, remobe nuts and lift out seat, if you're lucky enough to have heated seats then maybe some wires but that's it

Hey guys, i did a search and this is the closest thread i could find, anyway..
I cant get decent access to the rear bolts holding down the front seats of my 89' 320i tourer.
The plastic mechanism housing on the very sides seems to get in the way, a socket fits on but i then cant get the ratchet or extension bar into it and because of the shape of the runners i cant get a spanner round the bolt head.
When you slide them right forwards should it clear the bolts for access?? are my runners just full of crap??
Any ideas?? I really need to get these seats out!!
Thanks for any help
Chris

Fully forward and right up,you should be able to get a socket on them.

Yeah, you've got to raise the seat up to get at them.
The bolts go right though to the underside of the car so may be a bit rusty & seized but they'll come out ok.
The front fastenings are nuts with plastic caps on. (Helps to look at them in daylight rather than when it's half dark

)

Andy, be careful when removing the seats from the car not to scratch the paintowrk on the inside of the door. I found this out

! Also when fitting the new seats, be careful not to cross the threads. You will want them to be solid in the event of a crash.

Had them in & out a couple of times now. The 2 cross head screws came loose so the seat back moved. Loctite seems to have secured them (touch wood).
Chris: if those motors pack up I may have to!
