Instrument gauge advice

I had a series 1 325i engine and loom, towards the end the tachometer stopped working.
I then had a 1.3 motronic loom attached. After doing a bit of research it seems like the SI board is playing up and I'm going to source a good replacement. My questions are...
1) do I need an instrument cluster from a later (series 2 ) 325i.?
2) Can the speedo and therefore the mileage be swapped over to the new cluster?
3) Does anyone have one in good nick, preferably cheap? This will be the third one I've had to buy so far
