i'm having problems with the hood on an 89 motorsport cab, it starts to fold ok until the point where the horse shoe should open but it doesn't, is the horse shoe operated off a different fuse/relay?.
is there a manual over ride i can use to open it?.
i've also noticed that there's a thin cable that should be connected to the nearside boot hinge and leads back towards the bulkhead has snapped, could this be part of the problem?.

This is an 'interlocking' type device,to prevent you from opening the bootlid and the hood cover at the same time.
No knowledge of the power hood mechs, though, sorry!
There have been several threads through the 'open hood' season, though,a search may give you a link to more help.

You can operate it manually by inserting the box spanner into the drive through the hole in the trim in the boot straight in front of you as you open the boot.
The cable stops the roof operating when the bootlid is open. As the rear is lifting OK, I'd assume that it's not that. I'd start with the microswitch that tells the control unit that the hoop has folded and the next stage can begin. Or it may be one of the ones on the box locks signalling that the box is open when it's not.
It's on the nearside right at the base where the hood frame mounts to the body. There's a plate with two microswitches on it. I think it's one of them. give them all a right good clean with wd40 or contact cleaner and see if it makes any difference.
