Hi I'm having real annoying cooling issues with my H Plate 325i Touring Auto.

Basically on my 16 Mile trip to work in the morning, with so slow traffic at the begininning and the motorway and a-road to work, she is fine. But on the return journey once I come off the motorway into the traffic, the temp creeps upto 3/4 but no further.

I have replaced the following with all new parts.

The Waterpump
The Thermostat
Temp Sensor
Aux Fan
I have been bleeding the car (Front end lifted, heater on, reving etc as per threads on here) for the past 10 days and cant get it solved.

2 Things I have noticed apart from the above are.

When I open the rad cap when cold I can hear the release of pressure and when car is cold when I accelerate I can hear the sound of rushing water from passenger footwell.

Any ideas?

pressure release is normal, when you say aux fan do you mean the viscous one?plus if heaters hot you shouldn,t need to bleed anymore.is this a new thing or just lately?

its been the same for a while thats why I replaced all the things I though could be the problem. The Heaters blow hot, the viscous is new, but still the same problem persists. I think the Viscous fan is the only one the car has (mine anyway)

I'd stick a CO probe into the header tank to see if you are getting exhaust gases in the water. You shouldn't be getting pressure like that when the car is cold.

I'd also feel the whole of the rad with the car hot to see if you have any cold spots.

On your header tank you have two small hosesm one is the overflow which comes out behind the n/s/f wheel the other goes to the radiator, take it off the radiator and see if you can blow down it, if you can't that is your problem, if it's blocked you will get constant airlocks, change the header tank for either a new one or a known good one, when the engine is warm with the cap off you should get a steady stream of water flowing out of the little pin hole.

While your fluid is drained it might be worth flushing the system out with a hose.
