E30 Zone

Hey guys,

Got Clives supercharged 2.7 in for a fault, but we've parked the car up, locked it with the alarm and no wit won't unlock. The key in the doot won't turn to unlock, or there is a huge resistance there.. so it's dead locked. I can get into the boot.

I've tried a jumper pack on the battery, incase the battery volts were low.. no difference.

I managed to contact Clive (who is on hols) and he says pop a window.. this I will do as a last resort, but I really want to try and get it open without those drastic measures.

He said to disconnect and reconnect the battery, but still the alarm won't unlock the car. Also, with the battery disconnected, it's still dead locked.

Passenger side has no barrel, so unable ot get in that side either..

Any ideas would be appreciated and asap as I need to get the car sorted for his trip to the Pod next week.

No idea what's causing the problem, but this might be the solution:

reckon you can pop the bonnet to get to the fuse box and try the fuse?

i had simular on my touring the only way i could release the deadlock was to put the key in the ignition . so you may have to pop the window

Are either of you AA members? they can probably get in within a minute or two...

popping the windscreen out wont cause any damage but a hassle you would rather avoid (though pretty straight forward to put it back in again in the light of day)

You can't deadlock the driver's door if you locked the car remotely. There's no deadlock motor in that door - deadlocking is purely mechanical with the key.
Try lifting the handle as you try to turn the key.

Ok guys, this turned out to be a seized CDL motor in the drivers door, it was stuck, deadlocked and blew the fuse.

There's a lock motor in the driver's door, but not a deadlock motor.
If the lock motor is seized, it's worth opening it up to check if the motor is cooked, as the usual reason for this is a damaged (water ingress) locking ECU, and the problem is likely to reoccur, maybe cooking all the lock and deadlock motors.
