E30 Zone

hi there folks
Just wanting a bit of advice if possible about the fuel filter on my E30 318is. I would like to change the fuel filter but am a bit confused. All write ups seam to state the filter should be under the car but Im pretty sure mine appears to be in the engine bay on the passenger side. Is this another filter im mistaking for the fuel filter or could a previous owner have relocated it?
