Keeping is gearbox on and m50

Just wondered/hoping that the gearbox in my H reg 318Is will fit to the m50 engine.
If somebody could enlighten me please

Yes,it will fit fine.
However,the 'box will sit further back in the tunnel,there's alternate mounts available on the gearbox 'silder' that the rear support bolts to.You will also need to swap the gearlever support and lower link rod for shorter 320 size bits.
In the piccie above,you can see from the right;
Z3

320i support brackets
Then the two gear sticks are;
Z3 1.9(with bush fitted)
318i
Not shown is the lower link rod that you will also need!
This is a good oppotunity to re-fresh the gear linkage by renewing all the bushes and moving bits,hunt out 'short shift conversion' in the zone wiki(link button at the head of the page.)

cheers for replies, just could you clarify what prop i will need as the gearbox has to move.
And am i rite in thinking i need a 6pot speedo for the rev gauge 2 work properly??

320i prop,or at least the front part of one.
There's a coding chip in the front r/h lower corner of the cluster,remove the trim strip under the cluster to get to it,this is held by two knurled nuts from behind.
