Radiator to expansion tank pipe

Is there any need to use any particular type of hose at each end of the plastic pipe running from the rad to the expansion tank on my chromie 325 cab? Having seen what was on there previously (very thin rubber covered with cloth braiding) I assumed not, so just replaced the old porous and cracked joining sections with 8mm coolant hose and new clips as supplied by my local spares shop. Pleasingly there is now no annoying dribble of coolant from above the radiator after using the car, but just wanted to check I've done the right thing!

If you managed to get the 8mm fuel pipe onto the rigid plastic pipe without it shattering into shards of razor sharp plastic wedges and cutting you fingers / hands to shreds in the process: job jobbed.
Guess what happened to me when I did the same ...

Oh dear. Sounds like I got lucky: plastic pipe remained intact I'm pleased to say.
How's your fuel pump? It was a great feeling starting the car up after changing the lift pump and hearing no buzzing from outside! I'm driving around with a new external pump in the car though, just in case!

I keep meaning to get a new ext pump, but because it's stopped whining I keep forgetting about it... I'm living on borrowed time

If it's not whining, why do you think it needs replacing?

Becasue it had been whining intermittently for some time, later turning into a constant whine which allowed me to trace the problem of the dead lift pump.
Surely having the ext pump whining for so long can't have done it much good ?

Spoke too soon on my pipe fix: it's dribbling water again from the rad end, despite replacing the connecting hose and the clips! How can something SO simple be such a pain to sort?! Guess I'll undo it, shift it a bit and tighten it up again. Again...
