rattle noise on start and when driving e30 touring..exhaust?

Hi chaps...just wondered if any of you might know what the problem might be..start car up..rattling noise...press on accelorator and noise goes...foot off accelorator noise comes back...think it a common issue with most cars but just wondered if anyone had an idea (possible exhaust problem?) cheers, Mike

I had a rattle/chutter coming from the back of mine whenever it was cold but it would be fine when it warmed up. I put it up on a ramp and discovered I just needed to tighten the exhaust brackets and now the sounds gone.

I had similar very very annoying rattling problem.
Put it on ramp and the rubber ring holding exhaust back box and mid section together was completely worn out.
£1.50 from gsf sorted it right out

cheers for suggestions chaps...the rattle doesnt go when i put clutch down...as willnz suggested...when driving normally the rattle seems to increase when i put my foot down and going throught the gears...even when engine nice and warm it rattles idling and in neutral when parked up with engine running...seems to be getting worse..louder than it was yesterday...still a mystery...
