Car groans when turning left or right

Hi all
At low speeds, i.e. parking, the car groans like a hooker when turning left or right and not even when it's full lock.
At higher speeds does the same but not as noticeable. In a straight line she's as quiet as a mouse.
What's the problem?

Mine does that at parking speeds too, it's a groan and it has power steering. I was thinking maybe it needs more ps fluid?

You don't say whether the noise is coming from the front or the back mate.....

Try a new PAS belt and new fluids, a possible cheap fix.

Hi all
Groans from the front and I have PAS.
Contrary to my sign-on name, I drive a 325i Sport (1990) and it's Splondike's old motor.

You need to change the PAS fluid. It's absorbed water from the air. Do it now before the seals rot away. There was a link on here somewhere to a good article telling how to do it.
If I find it I'll post it

start with a fluid change Mahmmod, did that on mine and fixed a leak aswell and the rack makes no noise at all now.
Can't be too much to go wrong on your car as Mark replaced a lot of parts on the suspension

Hi all
Was fluid leaking away slowly through a knackered seal.
All done now and she's running sweet.
Cheers all and my 500th post taking me to a new level
