Diff seals

Anybody re-sealed the big type diff with a slip in it. Input seal's weeping and r/h output seal is weeping. Big job? Remove diff to do job, or do it in-situ?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Output seals are easy. Drive flanges just lever out, and the rest is obvious.
Input seal is a different matter, and theoretically can't de done on a DIY basis, since the nut isn't tightened to a specific torque, but is tightened onto a crush tube which sets the position of the pinion relative to the crown wheel.
If you really need to change it, mark the position of the nut, then remove and replace it (after changing the seal) EXACTLY as it was before, using the same drive flange and the same nut.
