morning all, just after confirmatin that i have the right gap in my head for the rocker gaps mainly, but whilst im here . . .

windows only work when the door is open, however i have spotted something from brian moore to try in a min with the relay and door pin, er, my obc works but you can only see it from one obscure angle, vey very feint display, any ideas?

the car froze solid over winter, popped the block core plugs back in and all has survived perfectly fine apart from the heater, somwhere inside the car its leakin water. bypassed it for now but a quick rough idea of how to get to the matrix would be appreciated, while im on that subject the fan doesnt work either lmfao!

also after a head, i only have 5 out of the 12 exhaust manifold bolts left! lmfao, something i neve checked when i bought the car  so if anyone around stafford and surrounding has one for a few quid they want to part with, i am lookin.

eri think thats it, but i will possibly be back later with more things hahaha, thanks in advance of any help.

0.25mm is correct for a completely cold engine.
Windows - check fuse 17.
OBC has a failed 'light bar'. It's a white plastic strip that slides into the RH side of the unit, but it can't be replaced without either removing the OBC or by butchering the the plastic of the radio frame a little. The light bar is incredibly expensive from BMW, but can be easily repaired by soldering in a pair of new bulbs of the right spec.
Heater leak is probably the electric valve on the LH side of the heater box. Remove the panel above the glovebox, followed by the one to the right to check, and remove both centre consoles to replace.
Fan has probably seized after 20 years without lubrication. Take motor out and lubricate fully.
Exhaust manifold has probably warped, and needs refacing at a machine shop. Take the cylinder head to the same place, and let them extract the broken studs.

cheers brian, gonna go fettle with the rockers for now, will check the fuse again for the windows but i dont think it was blown, just a bit of wire in pins 30 and 87 seems to be doing the trick for now though, update you when i stick my head back in for a brew in a bit. poxy exhaust thogh, i've owned three e30's now, and never had a completely sealed exhaust manifold ever lmfao! usual fix is a louder backbox or swap for a 2.5 while im at it winkeye hehehehehee!

If you've linked 30 and 87 on the blue relay at the back of the glovebox, you'll end up with a flat battery. Lights in the window switches will be permanently on.
