Can anyone recommend a set-up for my Sport that will improve the handling but not crucify the ride? I am considering a bilstein streetline kit or possibly going to BMW for original replacement shocks?

I put a SPAX PSX kit on my 325i, lowers by ~40mm (would be ~15mm lower for a Sport) and is top adjustable (front, rear is on bottom - of course). There's the VSX kit too which is fixed rate at ~25% more than standard. I have mine set at pos 14 (half way) which is hard enough to make CD's jump on larger-ish bumps but gives fookin superb handling

- you can change line mid bend without upsetting her, if you need to (too many sheep / drunks lying on the road up here

).
Don't know much about the Bilstein but they're rep is good, I doubt they'd be bad. F&K are supposidly good too. Also Koni do an adjustable kit which comes in at ~Ԛ£329 - damn good price for Koni. I reckon any would be good, and better than the standard kit. Then there's coilovers, if you can face splashing out Ԛ£700 on suspension.
If you're not sure about the firmness just go for the adjustables and set 'em up to suit yourself.

Bilstein are excellent but not cheap
Koni/Eibach very good - have them myself. The ride is stiffer

Thanks guys, I reckon i'll go for the Bilstiens as they're rep is good and i'll probably change the bushes at the same time.

I have just had the H&R cup kit fitted to my sport and it is very impressive. Slightly lower and rides much better than it did on the old standard shocks and springs, handling was good enough for a day at Silverstone last week and that's before i had fitted the H&R antiroll bar kit. There are a few guys on here that have tried most of the suspension setups, H&R comes out the best and it's German too..... Sal in the Zoneshop will give you a good deal, give it a go.
