New Exhaust Time...

Right its time for the bodged exhaust on my early 325i to be replaced. However, I don't know what to buy, I recently replaced the exhaust manifold (due to a crack in the old one) with a "larger" log style 4 bolt diamond shape one. This meant the downpipe flange had to be butchered to get it to fit as the hole pattern is slightly different. Is this a manifold off the later engine, and does it mean I have to fit a later exhaust if I don't want to chop the downpipe flange about to make it fit?

I recently had the backbox patched with plates :o: which looks a right mess, (but has improved the sound dramatically), the rest of the exhaust looks like it has been chopped and welded before, and is pretty well rusted through in several places, so needs to be replaced.

Finally, what are peoples opinions/ Experiences with Jetex exhausts on 6 pot E30's? They are a very good price, look quite subtle and have a reputation for being quiet compared to other "performance" exhausts, but I don't recall ever seeing one actually fitted to an E30?

I have a custom 2.5 inch stainless steel system from Longlife Exhausts, its the middle of the range one, on tickover just a slight burble and when further up the rev range its not too loud or overpowering, not expensive either, was only about £280 fitted. Manifold back straight through system. It is on my M10 Injection. Worked out cheaper than a specific fit system from anyone else, plus it has a lifetime warranty. work looking into, plus you can have any tailpipe you want, and probably get a better BHP result too.
