rear disc conversion question?

Right I have a 316i and I want to do a rear disc conversion, now if I change the rear arms I'm guessing my struts have to change aswell? Since the rear end will basically be a 325 and they have 51mm struts and mine are 45mm, there isn't anyway to keep the 45mm struts is there? Quick response please as I might bid on a lowering kit on eBay which is 45mm! But obviously won't if I can't use them, I kind of know the response il get I'm just hoping I can use 45mm still lmao

Your getting confused.
Struts are only fitted to the front of the car.

Some people mistakenly refer to shock absorbers as struts.

Ahhh yes! You can tell I'm new to BMW's

so I can still use a 45mm kit if I have a rear disc setup? Thinking of buying a cheap hot tuning kit just to get me slammed for a few months until I get more pennies for a gaz coilover kit

get 51mm fitting shocks. They're really quite important to get right and the 45mm will rattle about in a 51mm strut at the front, which isn't good for a key suspension component, it just wouldn't work.

Iv got a 316i so my front struts are 45mm was confused whether having a kit for 45mm struts would effect me having rear arms off a 325 ?

and the kit just temporary hopefully il get them for cheap so il just use and and abuse and bin

Suspension kits designed for cars with 45mm struts will work perfectly fine on your car as you still have the original 45mm front struts. The back end of the E30 will fit perfectly, the fact it's from a 325i is almost irrelavant.
Make sure you order a suspension kit suitable for your 4 cyl 316i though as if you order a kit designed for a 6 cyl the front will sit too high.

The 'shock absorber' is the spring
I think he means the damper

All tourer's came with discs and 51mm front struts as standard (basically the same as the 325i)
