hi guys, iv'e been reading some threads about the connector under the manifold for the injectors to sort out the cold start missfiring and high idle. so i took out the air box and i didnt see any connector apart from a two pin one thats connected to nothing!! is this the connector or am i looking in the wrong place?? and why is it not connected??
thanks

Your looking in the wrong place, I believe you are looking for the blue temp sensor which is under the inlet manifold near the fuel rail. Which engine do you have?

sorry its a 325i. im not lookin for the the blue temp sensor, iv'e seen other threads and it states theres a connector under the mani that corrodes away and is best hardwired together

The connector is approx 40mm dia and at the gearbox end of the block, roughly where the head meets the block. The air box isn't in the way.

The connector is right UNDER the inlet manifold, close to the engine, and mounted on the black metalwork that supports various things. Removing the airbox opens up, the engine bay to allow you to get at it, but isn't actually near the connector.

A much smaller version of the diagnostic socket (right at the front of the engine, at the top) or the main engine loom plug and socket (just inboard from the fusebox.)

Thanks alot guys. Got it. So i just cut the connector out and solder the wires together?

Depends if it's corroded or not!
If corrosion has occurred it's likely to have travelled back some of the wires under the insulation, making the copper black and difficult to solder, so, by the time you've cut back far enough to find clean copper, you may find the ends won't reach, and you'll have to splice in a length of wire.

had a look at the connector and found the bottom half is indeed corroded. so i am in the middle of soldering and the top connector has 1 more wire going into it than the bottom 1? what do i do with this?

Ignore the extra wire - it's left over from when E30s used a two wire temperature sensor for the temperature gauge.
