E30 Zone

Car is a 325i Sport with C/L. It has issues with the alarm going off randomly sometimes so this morning I locked it with the key in the drivers door. I do this often, the lock is a bit stiff but is usually fine. This morning however I cant get the drivers door open.
I used the fob for the remote locking to open the car but only the passenger door and boot opened so I just climbed across and drove to work.
The boot will lock/unlock the passenger door the alarm fob now just sets the immobiliser and locks nothing and I can't for the life of me get the drivers door open. The door pin wont move even when pulling on it from inside the car. I tried lifting the door handle while attempting to turn the key but no luck.

The key barrel is in the deadlock (horizontal) position and I can not turn the lock.
Any simple way to fix this?

Sounds like the lock barrel has siezed.

Difficult bit is going to be getting the doorcard off to access the thing!

Best fix is a 'lock repair kit' from your local friendly dealer for about £20. You get a bag of bits that enables you to build up a new barrel to match your key.

Whilst you have the door innards in bits,remove the latching gear from the door jamb and clean and lubricate it.

These two tasks will enable your door lock to function perfectly for another 20 years or so.

Also worth researching and doing is Mr Moore's red/black wire mod to the central locking wiring,but your first job is to get that driver's door to open...

The driver's door is mechanically deadlocked (no electric deadlock this side), and fortunately for you the electric deadlock is faulty as well, as the passenger door should also be impossible to open!
No angle grinders required. Pull out the rear seat cushion (for more room and so that it doesn't get damaged), unbolt the driver's seat (four 17mm bolts), and manoeuvre it onto the rear seat pan. Remove the door card, poke a long screwdriver through a hole behind the door lock, and lever the large 'C' clip that holds the lock barrel off forwards. You should then be able to remove the lock barrel, and the door should release.
