Have you checked that the dial is actually turning it on and notcome loose some how?
You get no air at all?
As daft as it sounds but have you opened the vents? The ones on the dash along the top aswell as the 3 sliding ones for screen, body and feet...?

Do you mean that the blower does not work on any speeds?
Judging by the noise you reported before I'd guess your motor has maybe seized or become stiff and the resistor pack has burned out.
Easiest solution is to buy a used known working one from someone breaking a car, just make sure they confirm it works on all speeds.

You could try taking the blower motor out and freeing it up with some wd40! Mine did exactly the same thing and I know a few others have posted the same problem. Its gotta be worth a punt mate as its free and just takes a few mins to do.
Secondly to this (if it fails) you could do as lee says and buy a known working one

yes as ant says..i did this, just whip off the bulkhead inspection panel and work the heater motor bearings with wd40 and elbow grease.
whilst you there you could follow the wiki guide to cleaning your wiper motor contacts seeing as your in there.

by the bulkhead panel, what exactly do you mean.
i have the exact same problem (i have hot air in my car but the blowers aren't working) and i have just checked the fuse which is still fine. i looked around for the fan motor as i have been told that it sometimes seizes but i dont really know what im looking for. once i find the motor i can give it a go...

Working under the bonnet, where the loom is fastened to the bulkhead. Undo the nuts which hold the loom to the panel and move it forward to give you room. Next, the access panel is held on by a few 9mm nuts (about 6 iirc), remove the panel and the motor will be visible, remove the plastic ducts and the motor is held in by a metal belt with a clip. Pop the clip and remove the motor then spray it up with wd40 while turning the motor by hand till it turns freely. Next what I did is use lubricating oil, give the motor power in your hand and while it spins lube it with oil.
Then put it all back together in reverse order.
Hope this helps - Ant

Pull off the rubber seal along the rear of the engine compartment that seals against the rear edge of the bonnet and you will see the side extremities of the access panel. It's held in place by just four self tappers with 7mm hex. heads, but there's also wiring related stuff attached to it (varying with model) that needs to be released before you can fully remove it from the car.
Don't forget to pull off the two spade terminals that carry power to the motor before you remove the large spring clip.
