i have seen a 16v engine for sale on ebay that i am thinking of getting it to put in my 318i cab. it comes with g/box, ecu, wiring loom. also available from the same car is all the running gear but no exhaust.
When fitting all the new stuff how much of the loom has to be replaced? is it just a loom around the engine or everything behind th dash as well. if anybody knows what is involved in this conversion could they please give me a rough outline. This will be much appreciated!!!
also when i bought the car i had a Toad CAT1 alarm fitted. does anyone know if this will interfear with the conversion?

... it maybe worthwhile getting everything you can. Including propshaft and diff plus all the running gear. The e30 318iS was equiped with motorsport suspension as standard.
Exhaust shoudn't be too bad. Just check it's not had a cat fitted. Providing its a pre-92 e30 318iS shouldn't be too much of a problem. Other Zoners sholud be able to help here.
Good luck.

The gearbox thats with the engine is the origional one, the engine has done 142k. I would like to say that this should not put you off, as its had a very good service history and will keep going for a while yet!
The car has mostly been owned by women drivers!
Both Gearbox and Diff are silent! with recent oil changes.
Im based in cambridge.
