e30 325i Misfire

Hey guys,
Firstly the problem:
The drives awesome through the rev range up until 5000rpm, where the car will misfire from 5000rpm all the way till the redline. It does this on every gear at the same exact rev. It feels as if the car is leaning out and is`nt getting either enough fuel or air.
Info on my car:
It originally was a 1990 320i automatic, the previous owner got bored and then got a workshop to perform a engine swap, the donor car being a UK spec 325i. The engine, gearbox and ecu were swapped in.
So far these are the things I`ve replaced on the car:
Inspection 1 service - (Oil Filter, Spark Plugs, etc)
Replaced both rear wheel bearings
Replaced Rocker Cover Gasket
Replaced Rear Brake Discs and Pads
Replaced Gearbox Bushes
Replaced Crank Sensor
Replaced Idle Control Valve
I got under the car and saw that it doesn't have a o2 sensor, and I also checked my DME# 0 261 200 173 and it is a Bosch Motronic M1.3 ECU. I always thought that Motronic 1.3 runs a o2 sensor and previous versions dont?
The mechanic who did the swap said the engine and ECU was from a UK spec so it doesn't need a o2 sensor. As the UK ones did`nt need o2 sensors and catalytic converters? Any truth to that statement?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Trish
