ok, changed my alternator with one from a 325 thats like twice the size as my old one. only differences was that the connections for the little wires were blade fittings not rings that have a securing nut. and the lower ampage on the little wire was a bit higher on the new starter motor. it works like but now when i set off my electric windows wont work. then only work when the door is open
this is proper driving me nuts, my misses bought the car cuase of me raving about them and its turnign out to be a right mare!
the other problem apart from a noisey as hell head and an exhaust manifold with 6 sheared off bolts is the water res bottle cap wont seem to seal and im constantly having to top up water. are these prone to failing?
cheers for any help guys, got a laundry list the size of my arm to do on this car and i am really starting to think of choppin it and getting another one!

I'm not sure if you've changed the starter motor or the alternator - you mention both. Alternator has nothing to do with the windows, but the starter motor certainly does. If it's wired incorrectly, then the windows won't work.
Does the pressure cap have both of its rubber O rings on it?
Six sheared manifold studs???? The only sensible way to sort them is to take the head off and have them professionally removed.
096 battery is the one to get for all E30's.
