E30 Zone

for some reason my wipers have started to play up,

they work on the 2nd & 3rd setting fine but get a little jittery on the 1st setting (slow), also the quick wipe setting that works when you click the wiper stalk down only works if you keep it held untill the wipers return to the bottom of the screen does this sound like a motor issue , relay issue or the wiper stalk being a bit dodgy??
any one come across this before?

Very common fault. Cure is basically to clean the old grease out of the wiper motor gearbox and add new.
Details used to be in the "tech articles", but is now probably somewhere in the depths of the wiki.

cheers brian, was`nt sure if it was more electrical relay/switching type thing due to its odd behaviour.

Getting the motor out and the linkage set correctly going back is the fun part!

Would suggest you scribe a line across the linkage/motor operating stub shaft to aid re-alignment.
