Ive been asked about fitting these on a car.

http://www.trampdrift.co.uk/Forum/TD/sh ... d.php?t=87

Im feeling reluctant to do it as i feel it could be dangerous and i dont want to do something to a car that can knowingly make it dangerous if you no what i mean.

Also ive been trying to talk the lad out of it.

That is dangerous, as there is less threaded bar 8O

I was more worried about the tyre catch situation

Forget that, if he fooks up the car, last thing you want is him comming back and pointing them blame mate.

I wouldnt have thought it was a great idea, as it allows the steering rack to travel further into the rack housing. this might mean that the pinion would reach the end of the teeth on the rack (as it is only has a certain length of teeth)

I was trying to explain to lad how a steering rack works but it went straight over his head. Thing i cant get head round is how can it give more lock when the tracking is adjusted properly?

Can't all the zoners who changed to 36 racks just sell their old e30 racks to tramp drifters for the reverse conversion :D

Mark can you fit me a set

the spacer allows the rack to retract further into the rack housing allowing more movement. re-tracking the car will shorten the track rods to compensate for the increased length, meaning total length of the steering assembly sill be the same.

It gives more steering angle, the track rod will be longer and the rod end will be shorter, basically moving the joint further out towards the wheel

Tyres that catch bodywork is an MOT fail
