hey all im having problems whit my fuel gauge not working..
the touring failed its test on a fuel leak so i left it at a garage to get fixed but turned out the whole passenger side of the tank was rotten so they cut it in half as i cant find a tank and fit it in time for the test so now my fuel gauge is not working as that side of the tank is gone does any one know if there is a way to get the fuel gauge working my orange light works when its low on fuel but the gauge its self is not because theres noting to connect it too now..

any help will be appreciated

Bodge... Just buy a new one!

They cut the tank in half? How did they seal it back up? sounds extremely dodgy to me.
Anyway, GSF have 55 and 63 litre tanks in stock. They're £125 and £165.

yeah they cut it in half welded it up and used some type of sealer ya put in it and slush about....noway thats cheap the places i went to where looking €180 to €200 for a used one and over €300 for a new one..thanks for the help

They could only weld a petrol tank up in Ireland!

I would just fill the remains when the light comes on,how much does it hold now?

yeah im just going to fill it when the light comes on till i get the cash for a new one...

i havent filled it as of yet it can prob only hold between 30L to 40L now

This sounds just the tank I want for one of my LPG powered E30's! I could get a couple of short cylinder tanks in the space freed up.
How did they bodge the fuel return pipe?
Your fuel gauge can be made to work accurately by shorting together the two wires that went to the LH level sender and changing the gauge in the instrument cluster for one from a car with a 55 litre tank.

they welded a flat side on the side they cut and put the return on it hope this helps
