well the brake check light will come on untill you push the brake pedal and the number plate light you will more than likely have a dodgy connection on one of the bulbs remove it and clean up the connections

Yh I get what your saying about the brake pedal once I do press that the brake light goes out,and when I start driving the licence And rear brake check comes on,iv pulled the rear light trays out and cleaned the connection points,it's a real strange one as it happens now and then, anyfink else I shoud clean up?

It could be a problem with the check control relay; This is tucked up above the L/H rear wheel arch.

I had a similar problem on the touring, in that all the rear check lights came on one day, spent ages cleaning connections on bulbs etc, only to later check the relay and notice that I had pulled one of the connector plugs out!

Brake light check LED will always come on with ign, goes out when the footbrake is used first time,if it stays on,you have a fault.

Usual issues with these things are voltage related, the sensors are very sensitive to voltage change,a poor quality bulb is enough to convince the sensor that the thing is not working properly,at work, there is a similar system on our Mercedes trucks,we have discovered that the 'bulb out' message will appear if the wrong wattage bulb has been fitted to a rear light unit.....

Corrosion is the usual fault with the numberplate light,I had a car that would light the license plate LED just by going over a ridge in the road....

Something that annoys me.... every now and again my "Rear lights" bulb will illuminate. I go to the back of the car and sure enough one isn't working, and it's a simple case of the connection coming loose, so I re secure it and the tail light comes back on. However, the check control light remains on until i restart the engine; is this normal ??
