Hey,

I have been having some major oil leaks with my car. Have discovered it is not the rocker cover as that has been replaced and tested.

The car runs absolutely fine but constantly leaks oil. Took it to a garage and they said it will involve removing the head and working down to find where the leak is coming from. This has been described as 'weired, the mechanic had never come across this in all the years he has been working'. There is oil in the loom, so some of the connections into the engine are covered with oil. I have been told there is oil in the loom and that there is no possible way that this oil could get there. Just wondering whether anyone has had this problem. I am going to drop the car off at the garage tomorrow and guess I will just have to take the hit...

From my experience of oil leaks you can park the car up for a while and follow the oil patch from the floor up the engine bay to find the source of where it leaks from, but from the loom? Never heard of that in any of my cars.
Personally just check the area's that are involved with oil such as the sump plug, oil sensor, oil filter/cooler and other feeds.

Thanks, the car is now in the garage. It is going to be a big job, will find out more about the problem when I talk to them today. Maybe, it would make sense getting another engine?

Do you think I could put a 325 engine in without any problems?

2.5 goes in no problem - plug and play

Rather than removing the head surely an easier option would be to get the engine bay properly degreased and steam cleaned to remove all traces of oil - then it should be obvious where the leak is coming from and then take appropriate action ?
