Better colour for what :?:
It,s a very subjective question. Go for the one YOU like best, imo.

Cardinal is an E30 colour, Coral is not. I only say this in case you want something more oem

Oxblood was also available for the E30s, I believe.

Of the two (if you want something to go with the available options for the car) I'd go for Oxblood.

I thought the E30 options were Cardinal and Crimson.

And of the two, Crimson was redder, while Cardinal is more orangey.

Think Oxblood was in the E34s, etc.

If it was me i'd be going for Crimson.

Hmm. Now I'm unsure. I may be talking complete b*ll*x about Oxblood, but when I looked at the colour chart it leapt out at me as being one of the original options. I agree that Cardinal is very orangey, so wouldn't go for it, personally.

I don't know, if you're not bothered about originality the imolarot should be a nice colour. The M Coupe's looks tasty with the Imolarot and black interiors.

As far as I know, its generally Cardinal red pre 1991, and Crimson red post 1991.

Cardinal red has hints of brown, Crimson red has hints of pink.

Heres 2 headrests to compare :

Image

Cardinal is on the left, crimson on the right.

I like both, but Cardinal is more common than crimson, but both are as rare as rocking horse s**t, as buyers had to have black in E30 days.

I'm building a cab interior, nearly have all the parts now, heres some of my aquisitions :

Dyeing an interior is of course possible, but the original colour of the leather is an important factor. The base colour generally needs to be lighter. Ive seen dyed interiors, and I can't say I've been impressed, so experiment first on a seat you can throw away to see if you like the
result.

Cardinal, without question imo. Oxblood is only for later cars.

Check this old thread out, showing probably, the best E30 cab in the world! It's cardinal red of course.

If you're still in the market for it there's a full cab interior on ebay at the mo. Nothing like the real thing!
