Motronic 1.0 to 1.3 upgrade, broken down into steps.

As per other thread, I think I need to upgrade my 1987 325 to the newer 1.3 motronic.

I believe I now have all the parts to do so (Thanks to all here who helped) but would like to break it down into managable chunks so that I get it right with my limited skills!

The 1st step I'd like to tackle is changing the Crankshaft Pulley to the notched one.

Crankshaft Pulley
1. How do you remove the pulley? Is it the main bolt or the six smaller ones? Any tips on this would be good.

2. What else needs to come off to do the job? Do I need to remove the radiator or fan?

Hi there,

Just did this myself, very straightforward job apart obviously from routing all the cables, but it's doable.

The sensors that need replacing are the oil ones (both pressure and level) and you need to add the crank position sensor triggered by the notched pulley. The old sensors on the flywheel are now redundant too.

Cheers, Eddie
