E30 Zone

is replacing them a hard job? would i get these direct from bmw?

Hi, not really a diy job without the special puller im afraid ,you can get pattern mounts from ECP people like that but i always find genuine bits last longer and fit better but that could just be me im sure someone on the zone said they had the puller and was offering to fit them too ,maybe try a search ?

i did mine yesterday,
i used lots of hammers, fags and swearing!

want to do mine all fresh paint and bushes if i ever get to it

Getting them out is hard work, but just about DIY, getting the new ones in needs a press, IMO.

alright where abouts are you i done mine a couple of weeks ago but have the special tools and a ramp but if your near i could give u a hand had a bit of a problem doing mine as the metal sleeve snapped of in the dowl doh

I DID MINE A FEW MONTHS AGO. I USED A BLOW TORCH TO MELT THE OLD ONES OUT ,AND JUST HEATED THE FRAME ,UP PLENTY OF WASHING UP LIQUID AND USED THE WEIGHT OF THE CAR AN MY TROLLEY JACK TO PRESS THE NEW ONES IN. PERFECT. THE ONLY TROUBLE I HAD WAS THE ALLOY CENTER OF THE OLD BUSH HAD OXIDISED ITSELF TIGHT AND HAD TO SPEND AN HOUR WITH A LONG CHISEL KNOCKING IT FREE THROUGH THE HOLE UNDER THE REAR SEAT. STRESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GOOD LOOK AND MAKE SURE YOU NOTE THE NEW ONE GOES IN IN EXACTLY TH SAME PLACE AS THE OLD ONE, THEY HAVE A CERTAIN SHAPE TO THEM.

You could use Powerflex bushes, just burn/hack the old ones out and press (by hand) the Powerflex ones in... job done

Powerflex are in three parts, main bush, stainless tube and top bush and even comes with special lube.

I did this a while back, getting the old ones out is a pain but fitting is easy peasy

hi all, i have a wobbly rear end(pardon the pun) it is very jerky and i get what feels like sideways wobbling at times. will the rear wish bushes be responsible for this ? it balso steps out quite easily too. cheers.

sounds like the main axle carrier bushes as above mate will cost about 100to fit iirc and you supply bushes or diy as above hth Daz

THESE BUSHES ARE VERY IMPORTANT AS THEY ARE TWO OF THREE POINTS THAT HOLD YOUR DIFF AN ALL YOUR SUSPENSION TO THE CAR. IF THEY ARE WORN OR LOOSE IT WILL DESTROY THE TRACKING OF YOUR BACK WHEELS AND CAUSE THE BACK END TO WANDER, VIBRATE OR CAUSE UNEVEN TYRE WEAR - ESPECIALLY IF IT IS LOWERED AND YOU RUN ALOT OF NEGATIVE CAMBER.

my local independand bmw specialists quoted me Ԛ£80ish a while ago to change the bushes on my last E30. they have a tool to allow extraction and refitting without removing the rear subframe. gotta be worth it i reckon!

Otherwise you can just drill the rubber out but it is tedious.

Thanks, but thats not the one i was thinking off.

This one involved using iron pipe caps, drilled with a stud to help pull it out!
