Wiring of a stereo

Hi guys, can some one help me with the wiring of my stereo in my touring as i dont have a clue i.e which colour are the live and the earth and memory.

reds memory
yellow switched

that is the stereo sode, not sure about the e30 side though!

brown = earth,
grey/red = panel lights,
red/green=permanent memory
white/purple=switchedlive.

that should be the wiring on the car side if it has the original e30 radio loom

yeah it seems to have the original wiring loom its just the plug has been swap over a few time :roll:

Plus twisted pairs of various colours for the speakers, plain white for the control signal to an electric aerial, and, on late models, light blue for speed related volume control.

A quich question for those in the know: would this feature be an easy retrofit on a car which didn't originally hve the light blue wire ?

Light blue wire originates at the green connector on the back of the instrument cluster. A lot of E30 clusters won't have the green plastic part of the socket fitted, although the holes where the pins push in are always present.

Thanks Brian, I might have a look into doing this mod in the future. If I succeed I'll post it up.
