Sound system - weird symptoms

Hi all,

Now that all the large stuff is done, I've gone through the trouble of tracing all the wiring for my sound system (the Touring has the one with the tweeters on the back of the rearview mirrors and big speakers on the back). I got the fader control out of the circuit and wired the euro connectors (the tourer was missing its radio, so I'm fitting a modern unit) direct to the speakers and power lines.

When I sorted them all out, I found the speakers were not wired through the stock wiring, and I found 4 wires coming out of the speaker boxes each side. Must have something to do with the mobile phone installation I removed, they messed with it.

Wiring all this stuff into the radio, I respected all wiring codes, but still no luck. Some speakers do give out static, but first the left front gave a constant buzz, then when I wired the right side, the front right gave a "tuc tuc tuc" constant tapping sound, pretty strong, and no other response.

I tried reversing its polarity, fearing someone might have gotten the wiring codes wrong, but still it did the same. What's going on here? Something went bust? Are the speakers innappropriate for my radio?

Your input is most appreciated.

Cheers, Eddie

You need to confirm that the wires you are using/working with are the ones you think they are?

One at a time, Twist the ends together at the speaker end and then check for the continuity on pairs untill you find that one.

Do this for all speakers and you'll be half way there.

Polarity doesn't matter for now, the speaker will still make the right sort of noises wired backwards.
