E30 Zone

need to do an oil change in the week, dont have a manual or nuffin or nuffan, how much oil do I need for an 2.8 M52 ??? it has an e34 sump if that makes any difference (i presume 525i), after a quick read it also looks like i might need a special socket to undo the oil filter, is this the case or can i do it by hand or with a normal socket ????

IIRC you need a 36mm socket for the oil filter housing, same as the front hub nuts, a trip to your local tool shop should see you with the right one if they let you try it on the car while your there.

For the oil, according to google its 6.5 litres for the E36 M52 and the E34 M50 is 5.75 so i would put 5 in and check it, if it's at max then run it to fill the oil filter, let it settle then top up and make a note of how much it takes.
